Hand painted, beaded, and embroidered by the atelier in Paris, the structured bustle silhouette carries a theatrical confidence that stops the room — and then, on closer inspection, reveals the extraordinary density of craft that went into every inch of it. The beading alone tells you this is not a piece that was made quickly, or carelessly, or for anyone but the person who was meant to wear it.
Pierre-François Valette named it well. There is something of Bowie's fearlessness here — the willingness to be looked at, to occupy space fully, to make glamour feel like a natural state rather than an occasion.
The skirt is available in two colorways: a deep, saturated blue and a vivid burnt orange. Both have been shown on the runway this season — the blue alongside the white leather brassière, the burnt orange with the peplum brassière top. Each combination tells a different story. Each skirt is its own.
